More about the data

How to read the values

“Cases” are offences recorded by the police. “Rate” is the number of cases per 100,000 residents. “Clearance rate” is the share of cases cleared. A rate of 5,000 means 5,000 cases were recorded per 100,000 residents in the reporting year.

Counted by where the offence took place

Cases are assigned to the place where the offence took place. This includes offences by commuters and visitors. The clearance rate can exceed 100% when cases from earlier years are also cleared in the reporting year.

What the data does not show

The statistics include only cases known to the police. Unreported or undetected crime is missing. The figures do not describe individual streets, neighbourhoods or your personal risk. localbliq does not rate the figures or compare places. Where separate city figures are unavailable, we show the district’s figures, covering all its municipalities.

Good to know

Why does it show a district instead of my municipality?

If separate city figures are unavailable for your municipality, localbliq shows the figures for its district. They cover the whole district and all its municipalities.

What does clearance rate mean?

The share of recorded cases that the police classify as cleared.

Can I compare cities?

localbliq does not offer city comparisons. The figures depend on factors such as population, visitor numbers and which offences are reported. They show only cases known to the police.
